The iconic Comandante® C40 is a robust and precise hand coffee grinder featuring a unique and groundbreaking burr set: Nitro Blade®. And with the new Mk4 generation, it has become even better!
Thanks to smart materials, a new burr suspension, and an unbreakable polymer-glass bean jar, the Comandante® C40 Mk4 offers improved workflow and, with its lighter weight and greater durability, is even more suitable for travel.
The C40 MK4 comes with two “Bean Jar” containers — one made of clear glass and one of purple polymer-glass. Both containers are taste-neutral, food-safe, and easy to clean with hot water. Each holds up to 40 grams of coffee.

The C60 Baracuda® contains a burr set that is a lot bigger compared to the Nitro Blade® in the C40 grinders. Due to this, it grinds significantly faster. The burr set itself is made from the same tried and tested steel as the Nitro Blade® burr sets.

Comandante Workflow
Place your Bean Jar on the Scale and dose your desired amount of Coffee.
Adjust the grind setting on the Comandante – to find the zero-point, turn the dial finer until the crank cant move freely any longer; from there, you can count the Clicks going coarser. This table is meant to be a loose guide, every coffee has its quirks:
Put the coffee into the grinder and grind ahead. When there is no more resistance while cranking, you'll have finished. Brew your coffee and enjoy!

The technical design of the burr set is the result of many years of research and development in the Comandante® laboratory. For the ultimate burr set, Nitro Blade®, a special high-alloy martensitic stainless steel with an extremely fine crystalline structure is used, ensuring exceptional flavor neutrality while being extremely robust and durable.
The burr geometry has been continuously refined over the years, achieving excellent productivity with easy handling and outstanding grind quality.
The Comandante® C40 Mk4 features a finely stepped grind adjustment, allowing for precise fine-tuning even within a single brewing method. The solid, click-in grind adjustment mechanism prevents accidental changes while grinding and ensures repeatable settings for all brewing methods. Comandante® products are aluminum-free and made exclusively from stable, safe, and food-grade materials such as stainless steel, wood, glass, and high-quality polymers.
High-performance polymers are used in some components of the C40 MK4 to make the grinder lighter, dimensionally stable, and highly durable. They are BPA-free and have been extensively tested and certified by recognized authorities as safe for use with food.
Comandante® loves wood. The crank knob of the C40 MK4 is crafted in the Black Forest from solid oak — a sturdy piece of nature with a beautiful grain that feels perfect in the hand and offers ergonomic, efficient operation.
