Elida Estate by Lamastus Family
Filter | Aeropress | Frenchpress
The Lamastus Family Estates were founded in 1918 by Roberto Lamastus, incorporating three estates: Elida Estate, El Burro Estate, Luito Estate. Each of these farms is located in a different region of the highlands of Panama and accordingly possesses its own microclimate and terroir.
About half of the Elida Estate is located within the Baru National Park, a protected eco-reserve that also serves as a sanctuary for exotic flora and fauna. The Baru Volcano, one of the highest volcanoes in Central America, reaches a height of 3475 meters and covers an area of 14,000 hectares, encompassing seven different climate zones. Elida Estate optimally utilizes all these conditions, including cultivation heights ranging from 1650 meters to over 2000 meters. These include the nutrient-rich volcanic soil, the unique microclimate, low temperatures that slow down the ripening process – a crucial factor for the development of the beans – dense fog during the dry months, and the naturally grown rainforest that surrounds the coffee trees. All these factors contribute to the excellent quality of the coffee produced by the Lamastus Family Estates.
